Cong. Benaldo was rushed to the New Era General Hospital after he was found drenched in his own blood by his staff inside his office in the House of Representatives, Thursday evening.
The outgoing representative was clearing his office for its new occupants, when the suicide attempt happened. He used a nine-millimeter pistol to shoot himself in the chest, news reports said.
The reports also said that Rep. Benjo Benaldo was conscious and coherent when he was brought to the hospital.
Benjo Benaldo is the husband of Brazilian model and celebrity Diana Menezes who recently created a buzz in the news when she posted online pictures of herself suggesting that she was a victim of domestic violence.
